Students learn to write through 'Superhero Trials'

The writing seminar "Superhero Trials" gives freshmen an opportunity to study a fun, familiar topic through a literary and cultural lens while learning how to write college-level papers.

The start of college is an exciting time full of new experiences and opportunities for freshmen. Before classes began Sept. 11, the members of the Class of 2017 were welcomed to the Princeton University community in a number of ways. This video shows some of the events and activities offered to freshmen.

In this video, faculty, students and alumni of the Department of East Asian Studies share their experiences on campus and abroad. They discuss how the department immerses undergraduate and graduate students in the languages, cultures, history, politics and economics of China, Japan and Korea.

'Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Cultures' .

Princeton University gives undergraduates many chances to learn about different countries and communities through the interdisciplinary approach of a liberal arts education. The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Cultures not only teaches another language (or two) but also expands students' view of the world.

Kyle Berlin named valedictorian, Katherine Lim selected as salutatorian .

Kyle Berlin, a Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures major from Arroyo Grande, California, has been selected as valedictorian of Princeton’s Class of 2018. Katherine Lim, a computer science major from Atherton, California, has been named the Latin salutatorian.

Research, revise, roar: Students find their voice at freshman research conference .

At a daylong conference at Princeton on Nov. 21, a group of sophomores presented a variety of topics they had researched as freshmen, ranging from artists Andy Warhol and El Greco to the music of Mozart and Led Zeppelin, with forays into human cloning and domestic violence, as well as television's "Star Trek" and "The Powerpuff Girls." The 16 students were brought together by the Princeton Writing Program in an extension of the freshman writing seminars to discuss research and writing.

diSiac Dance Company, a Princeton University student group established in 1998, welcomes dancers with a variety of backgrounds — from various dance styles to different levels of experience, and from all corners of campus. This spring, as the group prepared for its show "Novum," students worked with the staff of Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall as part of the venue's new Student Artist in Residence program.
