Princeton rowers create bonds, opportunities with Special Olympics athletes

Nov. 1, 2017 8 a.m.

Coaches and students on the Princeton rowing teams have been working with the New Jersey Special Olympics since 2013 to increase opportunities for rowing in the boathouse and in the water.

The Princeton rowing teams have been active with the New Jersey Special Olympics since 2013, and the partnership they have built together has created opportunities and memories for everyone involved.

Men's heavyweight rowing coach Greg Hughes helped launch the partnership, and students are now leading the program. While staff at the Special Olympics envisioned their athletes working on machines in the boathouse, many now train on Princeton's Lake Carnegie.
