More than 80 student-athletes visited the YMCA of Trenton for the Princeton Varsity Club's signature community service event, Weapons of Mass Construction. The Princeton University students helped refurbish the lobby, locker rooms, fitness center and playground facilities for the Trenton nonprofit, which hosts a preschool and a burgeoning membership base.

Since spring 2009, the Princeton Varsity Club has partnered with Isles Inc., a Trenton-based community development organization, to involve Princeton student-athletes and other campus community members in "Weapons of Mass Construction," an effort to help revitalize poor urban areas located just miles from the University.

The 2012-13 academic year marked the fifth year of the Weapons of Mass Construction community service initiative spearheaded by the Princeton Varsity Club. Princeton student-athletes took on two projects — helping to build a community garden and restoring storm-damaged properties.

For the sixth annual Weapons of Mass Construction event, the Princeton Varsity Club teamed up with HomeFront and Mathematica to host a picnic at Rosedale Park in Pennington, New Jersey. The goal was simple: have fun and connect with the community while providing an escape from the harsh realities that homelessness and poverty present to thousands of Trenton-area families.
