Two Princeton scholars are among 38 people recently elected to membership in the American Philosophical Society.
The Princeton honorees are Avinash Dixit, the John J. F. Sherrerd '52 University Professor of Economics, and Rosemary Grant, a retired senior research biologist in the ecology and evolutionary biology department.
The Philadelphia-based philosophical society, founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1743, is the country's oldest learned society. The society engages leading scholars, scientists and professionals in opportunities for multidisciplinary, intellectual fellowship, and it supports research, discovery and education through grants, lectures, publications, prizes and exhibitions.
