Ai Weiwei sculpture installation time-lapse video

Time-lapse images show the work involved in setting up the "Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads" sculptures outside Robertson Hall.

How do you capture the work it takes to install 12 dramatic sculptures depicting the Chinese zodiac? When "Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads" by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was set up on Scudder Plaza on the Princeton campus on July 30 and 31, a photography crew recorded a series of time-lapse sequences of the installation from more than 50 angles with three cameras, some of them firing simultaneously. In all, the cameras took 3,315 images.

An installation of 12 monumental sculptures by the renowned Chinese artist and social activist Ai Weiwei will be on view at Princeton University for one year beginning Wednesday, Aug. 1. The artist's "Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads" will be located at Scudder Plaza in front of Robertson Hall, home of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

'Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry' documentary to be screened .

In advance of the anticipated Wednesday, Oct. 10, visit to the Princeton campus by Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei, the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs will host a screening of the newly released documentary "Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry" at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in both Dodds Auditorium and Bowl 016, Robertson Hall. The film's director, Alison Klayman, will participate in a Q&A following the screening.

Time-lapse of the installation of "(Any) Body Oddly Propped" .

Over the final weeks of summer, the sculpture "(Any) Body Oddly Propped," by Doug and Mike Starn, was installed in front of the Princeton University Art Museum. This time-lapse video shows the site as the steel beams, glass panels and bronze forms come together.

Construction for installation about Woodrow Wilson soon to be underway .

Construction for a new installation about Woodrow Wilson will begin June 2019 on Scudder Plaza beside Robertson Hall, home of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Designed by acclaimed artist Walter Hood, the piece will be a vertical sculpture of two columnar elements, one leaning on the other, wrapped with surfaces of black and white stone and etched with quotations representing both the positive and negative aspects of Wilson’s legacy. The project is expected to be completed by September 2019.

University to mark completion of Woodrow Wilson installation with public discussion, dedication .

Construction of “Double Sights,” an installation about the complex legacy of Woodrow Wilson, is nearing completion on Scudder Plaza adjacent to Robertson Hall, home of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. The University will mark the installation’s completion with a public discussion and dedication on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Major new campus sculpture uses glass and metal to evoke nature .

A monumental new glass, steel and bronze sculpture by leading contemporary artists Doug and Mike Starn was placed on the lawn of the Princeton University Art Museum this summer. The newly commissioned work, titled "(Any) Body Oddly Propped," is constructed of six 18-foot-tall vividly colored glass panels and two cast bronze forms resembling tree limbs.
