Six faculty members named to endowed professorships

Six faculty members have been named to endowed professorships, effective July 1.

• Ilhan Aksay, the Pomeroy and Betty Perry Smith Professor in Engineering
• William Gleason, the Hughes-Rogers Professor of English.
• Atif Mian, the John H. Laporte, Jr. Class of 1967 Professor in Public Policy and Finance.
• Pedro Meira Monteiro, the Arthur W. Marks '19 Professor of Spanish and Portuguese.
• Ulrich Mueller, the Stanley G. Ivins '34 and Henrietta Bauer Ivins Professor in Economics.
• Herman Verlinde, the Class of 1909 Professor of Physics.
